Медиатизация религии: критическая оценка

Аннотация

Большинство социологов религии до сих пор редко рассматривали медиа как пространство формирования религии в современном обществе. В данной статье обсуждается целесообразность использования тезиса о медиатизации религии, предложенного Стигом Хьярвардом, для изучения религиозных изменений в современном западном обществе. Эта концепция вносит вклад в социологию религии, фиксируя связь между свойствами современных массмедиа и секуляризацией. Однако на данный момент ее валидность ограничена узким пониманием того, что такое религия и как она соотносится с модернизацией. В статье предлагаются две отправные точки для развития теории, что позволило бы лучше схватить то, что имеется в виду, когда речь идет о медиатизации религии: во-первых, это понимание религии, которое в большей степени отражает сложность ее современного состояния, и, во-вторых, понимание медиатизации, которое признает агентность религиозных акторов как способных участвовать в формировании медиапространства, а также современного общества.
