Младенец и крест: особая иконография Орудий Страстей Христовых для защиты рожениц в английском свитке XV в. (Beinecke MS 410)

В статье рассматривается изображение Младенца Иисуса с крестом из свитка XV в. (Beinecke MS 410), входящего в группу позднесредневековых английских «родильных свитков». Миниатюры в них сопровождаются молитвами, необходимыми для получения индульгенций и защиты от болезней и опасностей, в том числе и при родах, часто завершавшихся в Средние века смертью матери и/или младенца. «Родильные свитки» являются разновидностью так называемых рукописей Arma Christi (Орудий Страстей Христовых), возникших в XIV веке. Это важнейший материал, позволяющий нам понять, как благочестие и магия пересекались в повседневной жизни средневековых людей. Изучение текстов и иконографии Beinecke MS 410 позволяют предположить, что первые владельцы свитка использовали различные виды контакта с изображениями - тактильный, визуальный, оральный, аудиальный - для получения защиты и покровительства свыше. Иконография миниатюры Младенца Иисуса с крестом и ее место в общей визуально-текстуальной программе свитка показывают, что она была добавлена в рукопись специально для беременных и рожениц как особое дополнение к уже имеющемуся набору защитных изображений. Младенец на миниатюре является одновременно покровителем беременных и рожениц и образом желаемого ими здорового ребенка, созерцая которого, они могут родить такого же. Анализ иконографии миниатюр рукописи и их связи с текстом позволяют понять, как именно религиозные изображения действовали в качестве амулетов для рожениц и беременных, помогая им справляться со страхами и неизвестностью.
