Аннотация
Рождение, страдание, болезни и смерть, благодаря успехам медицины, оказались в ряду вызовов, кажущихся новыми и требующих новых ответов. Светская биоэтика сформировалась как ответ на требования новых биомедицинских технологий в контексте культуры, фрагментированной моральным плюрализмом. Несмотря на то, что она обещала объединить людей, разделенных разными религиозными взглядами и моральными ценностями, это обещание оказалось невыполнимым. Разум в одиночку не может обеспечить общепринятое («каноническое») содержательное моральное руководство или создать нравственную общность, способную объединить всех людей. Христианская биоэтика как часть образа жизни, основанного на подлинной религии, предлагает понимание, содержание и смысл там, где светская биоэтика потерпела неудачу. Для христиан разрешение биоэтических противоречий будет найдено не в обращении к основополагающим рациональным аргументам или отдельным цитатам из Священного Писания, но лишь в христианской общине, объединенной подлинной верой.
