Этот маленький город, расположенный в северной части Казахской степи, привлек в 1906 году внимание двух влиятельных татарских газет «Вакыт» и «Ульфат». Между авторами газет возникла дискуссия. Ключевую роль в ней играл вопрос о том, как совместить подходы к решению местных проблем с вызовами современности (имперские реформы, реформа мусульманского образования, консолидация усилий татарской/тюркской нации и др.). Анализ языка публикаций (понятия, лексика, стиль), контекста, использование дополнительных источников (архивные материалы), показывают, что подобного рода дискуссии скорее отражали интересы определенных групп (реформаторы, редакторы газет, купцы) и особенности текущей конъюнктуры, а не стремление к детальному и комплексному анализу ситуации на месте. Мой основной вывод сводится к тому, что отдельные слова и аргументы участников дискуссии представляли собой скорее совокупность лингвистических стратегий, а не практических советов и предложений, связанных с поиском действенных шагов для решения конкретных проблем Атбасара. Таким образом, несмотря на внимание татарских газет и журналов к ситуации в Казахской степи, их подход к освещению действительности часто носил субъективный характер, что в свою очередь формировало у читателя искаженное представление о комплексе проблем в отдаленных регионах империи.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article examines the development of Atbasar, a small town in the northern part of the Kazakh Steppe, in the early twentieth century, as discussed in the Tatar press. In 1906, Atbasar attracted the attention of the two influential Tatar newspapers, “Vakyt” and “Ul’fat,” who approached the towns’ problems in very different ways. They debated over the ways the local problems could be combined with the challenges of the current imperial reforms; the reforms of Muslim education; the process of Tatar/Turkic national consolidation, etc. The analysis of the language of publications and of the additional archival sources show that such debates were motivated by the particular interests of certain involved groups (reformers, newspapers editors, merchants) rather than the desire for detailed and comprehensive analysis of the situation of a particular region.
